It’s no secret that there are an overwhelming number of website builder options out there, so how do you know which is right for you? As a website designer, I’ve tried my hand at countless website platforms out there, and I will always and forever be recommending Showit to just about anyone. New to Showit? Let me take you behind the scenes of my client process, why I love designing on Showit, and why you’ll love it, too. Read on to discover 5 surprising things you’ll encounter when working with a Showit designer!

Contrary to popular belief, you do not need coding experience in order to have an incredible website – especially with Showit! While Showit has amazingly powerful design abilities, it’s also surprisingly easy to use! There are an array of creative features at your fingertips, all without having to know coding. Not only does this make my job as web designer more convenient, but it also makes it easier for the client to make edits themselves in the future.
Does this mean you can’t add your own unique code to spruce up your site? Of course not! Showit makes it easy to embed code to any part of your website in just a few clicks. This also makes it wonderfully easy to integrate any number of widgets to your site – including things like Shopify!
You might be wondering, “Does not knowing code mean limited creative freedom?” Not with Showit! Many website platforms out there work off strict grids for placing your content, and even stricter mobile customization. Squarespace, for example, recently integrated a limited version of a drag-and-drop feature, however, it still operates on some form of a grid. I have found this is still rather frustrating creatively.
Showit, on the other hand, uses 100% free drag-and-drop technology. Meaning, you can place just about anything anywhere you want, right down to the pixel! Plus, Showit lets you completely customize the mobile version of your website apart from the desktop version – so everything is perfectly optimized for whatever screen your audience is on.
So what happens once I’ve designed a site for a client on Showit? Luckily, Showit makes it easy to not only hand off website designs to clients, but it also makes it easy for clients to maintain their website without needing help from me.
As far as handing off the design, Showit provides a share key for each website you design in your account (you can have an unlimited number of designs in your account!) that you can simply share with your client. However, Showit has recently released an update to where designers can now be invited as admins on client Showit accounts, making it now even easier for designers to hand off their designs. Instead of sending over the share key, you can simply go in and input the share key for the client yourself. This might be an extra step for you as a designer, but I find it goes a long way for the happiness of my clients.
And because Showit is so simple to use, my clients aren’t forced to call me up every single time they need to make an edit to maintain their new site. Of course, you want to start them off on the right foot – especially if they are new to Showit. That’s why I always include a Website Training Tutorial recording in my client offboarding process! This lets me walk my clients through the basics of Showit, how to edit text and photos, and maintain the unique pages on their specific site.
A common question I often see as a Showit designer is, “What do I do if I have a blog on a different platform?” Not a problem! Showit makes it simple to migrate your current blog from most of the popular platforms. And I highly recommend it! Because Showit integrates with WordPress for its blogging features, you get all of the creative freedom and ease-of-use with Showit, as well as the powerful blogging ability that comes with WordPress. It’s a win-win!
Whether you’re transferring over a blog from your previous site or creating a new blog from scratch, the Showit support team is more than helpful. In my experience, Showit’s customer service responds quickly and is extremely kind and knowledgeable when you’re setting up your site or blog.
As always, there are some businesses out there that are not quite ready to invest in custom website design with a Showit designer. And that’s okay! There are hundreds of beautiful templates out there that are much more affordable than a custom website – perfect for a business that is just getting its footing. And unsurprisingly, Showit makes it extremely easy to customize just about any template.
The way each website design is set up, you can customize the color palette and fonts across the entire website in just a few clicks! Any colors or fonts customized in the website’s Design Settings will automatically populate throughout the entire website. This makes it extremely easy to personalize any template you purchase, or even give your site a refresh later on.

I am launching my own Showit Website Template Shop in just a few short months, where you can find strategically crafted, beautifully designed templates that you can use to kickstart your online presence!
